MANJHI:"THE MOUNTAIN MAN"

This weekend the heavy downpour from the morning; followed by the drizzly evening; and the nature has itself created the ambience of Cherrapunji in the plains, has given me the chance to witness the forgotten history with a steaming cup of coffee and toast. “MANJHI” The heart touching story Dashrath Manjhi – “:The  Mountain Man of India.”

The biopic by Ketan Mehta is based on the life of an extaordinary man from Bihar, Dashrath Manjhi  (1934-2007),who carved a path through a mountain using hammer and a chisel and continuously working for twenty two years(1960-1982) day and night; for the love of his wife Faguni Devi, who slipped from the mountain and hit the foot; due to lack of medical facilities took her last breath. Overwhelmed by distress he carved out the road through the mountain alone ,single handedly so that no other would ever face the fate that he had to. He shortened the travel distance between Attari and Wazirgunj blocks of Gaya District from 55Kms to 15 Kms only.

   It is a persuading story of the triumph of the human will.

The Cast of the movie embodies of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Pankaj Tripathi, Gaurav Dwivedi, Timangshu Dhuliya, Prashant Narnyanan.

Through the movie Siddiqui has been able to be an eye-catcher again for his virile and garrulous acting.
